It’s official, “EA Sports MMA” is due out on both the PS3 and Xbox 360 on October 19th, 2010. Who’s on the cover you ask? Well none other than two of MMA’s greats, UFC’s Randy “The Natural” Couture and Strikeforce’s “The Last Emperor” Fedor Emelianenko. THQ’s new game is going to go head-to-head with the newly released UFC Undisputed 2010 mixed martial arts game, so what makes EA Sports MMA different?
UFC Undisputed features many of the stars of the UFC franchise, while EA Sports MMA will feature mixed martial artist from Strikeforce and DREAM as well as the UFC’s Randy Couture. Couture signed onto EA Sports while undergoing a contract dispute with the UFC back in 2008 before the first Undisputed game was released. Some of the fighters that have been confirmed to be in EA Sports MMA are: Shinya Aoki, Andrei Arlovski, Josh Barnett, Lyle Beerbohm, Joachim Hansen, Dan Henderson, Roger Gracie, Jay Hieron, Tim Kennedy, Bobby Lashley, Robbie Lawler, Cung Le, Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal, Matt Lindland, Vladimir Matyushenko, Gilbert Melendez, Jason “Mayhem” Miller, Gegard Mousasi, Alistair Overeem, Kevin Randleman, Vitor Ribiero, Luke Rockhold, Brett Rogers, Murilo “Ninja” Rua, Frank Shamrock, Jake Shields, Scott Smith, Renato “Babalu” Sobral, Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, Nick Thompson, Josh Thomson, Frank Trigg, Fabricio Werdum, Tyron Woodley and Hidehiko Yoshida
Not a bad roster of fighters at all. The game will include both a ring and cage and will allows players to create their own characters as well as play online. Be sure to look out for EA Sports MMA available in stores on October 19th, 2010.
