While it’s not yet official, sources say that a light heavyweight bout between Brandon Vera and Thaigo Silva is targeted for UFC 125 in January. This fight is a “must-win” for both fighters as they have both come off losses. Thaigo Silva (14-2 MMA, 5-2 UFC) and Brandon Vera (11-5 MMA, 7-5 UFC are both great strikers so we’re sure to see them duke it out for a much needed win. Vera and Silva were very big prospects when they entered the UFC, Vera was seen as a potential champion as he came into the UFC and beat his opponents with his technical Muay Thai striking.
His decision loss to Randy Couture and his destruction by Jon Jones have since but his UFC rise on hold. The Chute Boxe alum, Silva entered the UFC undefeated as he destroyed all opponents he faced, his first defeat came by knock out at the hands of Lyoto Machida, he then suffered another defeat from Rashad Evans. With both fighters coming off losses, this fight very well may determine who gets to stay in the UFC and who will be sent packing.
UFC 125 is expected to take place on January 1st, 2011 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas
