The super match between Brock Lesnar and Shane Carwin at UFC 116 was hyped up for some time, as it should have been. It was a bout between some of the two biggest guys to ever step foot in the octagon, and it was a fight to unify the heavy weight championship. Two giants stepped into the cage, and only one would leave the undisputed champion.
Well tonight at UFC 116 it was Lesnar that left as the heavy weight champ. Carwin hurt Lesnar bad in the first round after he took the champ down and pummeled him with shots from the top in typical Carwin fashion. Lesnar was the first man to ever make it out of the first round with Shane Carwin.
The two men came into the second touching gloves as a sign of respect, moments later however Lesnar takes down Carwin and submits him in the second round. Brock Lesnar will remain the UFC’s Heavy Weight Champion as Carwin suffers the first defeat of his MMA career.
In his post fight interview we see a different Brock Lesnar, the champ thanked his doctors and his training camp for his victory, and instead of hurling insults he showed a more positive side as he told the fans, “I stand here a humble champion, but I’m still the toughest S.O.B.”
