Steven Seagal really has made an impression over at Black House. First Anderson Silva used a front kick to knock out Vitor Belfort at UFC 126, now Lyoto Machida used a front jump kick of his own to knock out Randy Couture at UFC 130. Whether it was really Seagal, or Mr. Miyagi, that inspired Machida to throw that front kick, there is no arguing it was a beautiful move that only a fighter with Machida’s talent and skill could have pulled off.
Machida earned Knock Out of the Night honors along with a $129,000 bonus. Machida was coming off two consecutive loses, a brutal knock out to Shogun Rua and a close split decision to Rampage Jackson. This was a win Machida really needed, not only to show he belonged in the UFC but also that his best days in the Octagon weren’t behind him. This decisive win over “The Natural” could very will put Lyoto Machida back in title contention.
