Many sources claimed that UFC 117 Anderson Silva vs Chael Sonnen got almost one million pay per view buys, but it seems from more recent figures that the actual number of buys is closer to 600,000. While that is still a respectable number of PPV purchases, it is about half of what UFC 116 netted. Figure Four Weekly has reported that the UFC 117 estimates from various cable sources were wrong and that the newest estimates have put the actual number closer to 600K buys.
“Part of the issue is that there are wide variations throughout the country with some systems showing huge numbers and other systems showing much smaller numbers. It’ll be several weeks before we get what we can really call a solid number.”
