Bad news for fans who wanted to see the “Axe Murderer” Wanderlei Silva and Yoshihiro Akiyama duke it out at UFC 116, Silva has withdrawn from the card due to fractured ribs he received during training. Dana White confirmed the news with MMA Fighting Tuesday. Akiyama defeated Alan Belcher at UFC 100 last July and was scheduled to fight fellow striker Wanderlei Silva. The UFC is currently working on finding a definite replacement for the bout, it is said that Chris Leben has agreed to replace Silva but nothing has been made official. Leben recently defeated Aaron Simpson at the TUF 11 Finale in Las Vegas this past weekend.
