Yoshizo Machida, father of Lyoto Machida, said in a recent interview that Lyoto should retire from MMA after his first loss at UFC 113 to Mauricio “Shogun” Rua by a devastating knock out in the first round. He has told other family members his thoughts about Lyoto retiring but not to Lyoto himself.
He talks about Lyoto’s training for his last fight at UFC 113, his long career of winning and being undefeated in MMA and the pressure that got to Lyoto before the fight. He also talked about Machida’s plan to fight until he is about 35, and how the spiritual fight inside of a fighter can be just as important as the physical damage a fighter sustains.
